KSP is optimistic that UIP will accelerate the development of Papua's welfare

Deputy II of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Abetnego Tarigan is optimistic that the establishment of the Papua International University (UIP) can produce quality human resources who will contribute to development in Papua.

"UIP is expected to be a light from the east to start a new foundation for the development of East Indonesia that is quality, competitive, and able to improve performance and absorb potential skilled workers in their fields," said Abetnego, in a press release, in Jakarta, Tuesday.

The establishment of UIP was based on the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24/E/O/2022 which was issued on January 17, 2022.
 
The Presidential Staff Office appreciates the establishment of UIP which will later play a role in producing intelligent Papuan people with strong and superior national characteristics.

According to Abetnego, UIP will have good potential in developing cooperation in the field of international education because Papua is strategically located close to and bordering several countries, including Papua New Guinea (PNG), Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific countries.

"UIP needs to develop networks with universities and institutions abroad to improve its international position and image as with its closest and strategic neighboring countries," he said.
 
During the Handover of Licensing Decree and UIP Soft Launching, Monday (14/2), MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo said that UIP would guarantee the quality of international education for Papuan children without having to go abroad.

In addition, UIP will bring in the best teachers who are native Papuan children and teachers from abroad with scientific backgrounds that are in line with local needs in Papua.

"We all hope that through the establishment of the UIP it will provide tangible contributions and benefits for improving the welfare of the Papuan people," said Bambang.
