Support Central Papua Mimika Regency Government Focuses on New Town Development

In order to support the expansion plan of Central Papua Province, the Mimika Regency Government in 2022 will focus on developing a new urban area. Several assets belonging to the Mimika Regency Government have also been recorded for grants to the Province of Central Papua including road infrastructure.

Eltinus Omaleng, Regent of Mimika also confirmed this. It is said, the Mimika Regency Government Center building which is on the Kuala Kencana SP 3 axis road will also be donated to the Province of Central Papua.

"We are giving large buildings and existing infrastructure to Central Papua Province because it is a requirement," said Eltinus Omaleng to Timika eXpress, Friday (4/2).

He continued, at the end of 2022, two major activities carried out by the previous Regency Government, namely the construction of the Mozes Kilangin Airport Terminal on the South side and the construction of the Poros Cendrawasih road, were completed.

Based on a multi-year work contract, the construction of Jalan Cenderawasih and the airport terminal will be completed by the end of 2022.

"This year there are 5 priority developments, namely the construction of Jalan Poros SP 2-SP 5. This road will be wider than Jalan Cenderawasih because it will be the heart of Timika," he said.

He continued, road construction starting from the Mayon axis to SP 12. Plus the continued construction of the Mile 32 road to Gorong-Gorong.

“Also the construction of a financial office, construction of the Office of Transportation, and the construction of a parking lot for the Mozes Kilangin airport. All these activities will end in 2024," he explained.

In addition to several assets and roads that will be donated, the Mimika Regency Government this year also formed a committee to inaugurate the task force to fill the village and district heads who are ready to expand.

The Omaleng Regent said that around 300 villages and 12 new districts were ready to be expanded in 2022.

"That is also one of the conditions to support the Province of Central Papua and the City of Madya," he explained.
