Previously, the Separatist Terrorist Group (KST) in Papua again carried out acts of terror on Sunday (20/2/2022).

They shot and burned houses in Papuan residential areas in Omukia District and Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Sunday (20/2/2022).

Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Colonel Inf Aqsha Erlangga in his statement revealed the chronology of the arson actions carried out by KST.

At that time, the Joint Team of TNI and Polri Security Forces led by Captain Pas Geri Kurniawan, as the Dansector of the Kopasga Airbase Task Force, was evacuating victims of the shooting at 07.00 WIT.

The team departed from the Puskesmas to Aminggura Ilaga Airport, Omukia District, Puncak Regency using 3 units of four-wheeled vehicles.

"While at the airport suddenly from the top of the hill there were shots fired by KST towards the security forces so that TNI officers from Kopasgat returned fire at KST," explained Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih.

"At 09.40 WIT, KST again fired shots in Nipuralome Village, Ilaga District, which is adjacent to the Telkomsel Tower," he added.

Not only that, at 09.45 WIT KST again burned Ilaga Traditional Market in Nipuralome Village.

Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih revealed that to ensure KST's act of burning the market, TNI officers flew drones towards the sound of gunfire and puffs of smoke.

"Results from drone monitoring show that 7 KST people carrying one SS1 weapon were around the Telkomsel tower and a puff of smoke came from burning residents' houses," said Kapendam.

"Then at 10:35 WIT, another 15 gun shots were heard from the direction of the church building or under the State Hall of Ilaga District, which is about 150 meters from Ilaga Traditional Market," said Kapendam.

Not long after the incident, at around 11.48 WIT there was a suspicious action of 2 KST people using 1 motorbike at high speed from the direction of Kunga Village, Gome District crossing the Gome Koramil Post.

"In a motorbike, it was seen carrying a red plastic bag carrying munitions, then TNI officers tried to stop it with warning shots, but the two KST people managed to escape," said Colonel Inf Aqsha Erlangga.

"From the actions of the TNI-Polri joint apparatus, 7 KST people who were around the Telkomsel Tower fled to the Eromaga forest, Omukia District.

Furthermore, Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih explained that there were no fatalities from the KST terror act.

However, there were about 4 units of residents' houses that were burned by the KST mob.

Among them, it was detected that one housing in the SMK N 1 Ilaga area was burned by KST and one house near the Telkomsel Tower was also burned by KST mobs.

Many residents in Nipuralome Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency have also fled to the area around Ilaga Traditional Market.

"Let's urge together those who are members of KST to immediately realize that their actions are truly barbaric by carrying out acts of terror."

"Shooting people and including shooting security forces is an inhumane act, disrupts the ongoing development in Papua, violates human rights and is not justified by any religion, especially now that Sunday is a holy day of worship for all Christians," hoped Kapendam XVII. /Cendrawasih.

"I ask and invite the whole community to pray that the situation will return to conducive, the security forces of the TNI and Polri and the public are given safety from disturbances and acts of terror in KST," said Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih.
