Meeting Mahfud MD, Head of the Papuan Indigenous Youth DPN Asks the Government to Accelerate Expansion

The Papuan Indigenous Youth National Leadership Council (DPN) has asked the government to accelerate the expansion of the three Papuan regions. The three are Central Papua, Central Highlands Papua and South Papua.

Chairman of the Papua Indigenous Youth DPN Jan Christian Arebo said this when meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday (28/4/2022).
 
"We fully support the central government with the presence of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) in Papua for the welfare of the Papuan people and equitable development in the Land of Papua. For that, we expect the President to immediately accelerate the new autonomous regions in Papua in order to create a safe, peaceful and conducive situation It also brings prosperity to the Papuan people," Arebo said, Thursday (28/4/2022).

He believes the expansion of Papua will have a positive impact on the community and accelerate development in the Land of Paradise.
 
According to him, most Papuans are loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Not all Papuans ask for independence, not all Papuans ask for a referendum. I am an Indonesian citizen who is loyal and obedient to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
 
On the same occasion, Pastor Catto Y Mauri who was also present at the meeting emphasized his support for the division of three regions in Papua. He also emphasized that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia was a gift from God for the Papuan people.

"As a servant of God, I want to say a statement that I can say and cannot be denied. Papua in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is a gift from God. We are grateful for that," said Mauri, who is also a member of the Papuan Indigenous Youth.

To the Papuan Indigenous Youth DPN, Mahfud MD said the government would speed up the process of expansion or new autonomous regions in Papua.
 
"The Caretaker is currently being considered, the important thing is to promulgate it in the not too distant future, later it will be formed with a Presidential Decree, it's easier for us to prepare," he said.

He will also immediately follow up on all inputs received from the Papua Indigenous Youth DPN and submit them to the President.

"I will convey everything to the President, then we will speed things up. I thank you, goodbye, greetings to my brothers in Papua," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

Present at the meeting representing other Papuan Indigenous Youth National Leadership Councils were Hironimus Taime (Waketum DPN PAP), Daud Rumaropen (Dewas DPN PAP), Julles Ongge, (Dewas PAP), Willem Frans Ansanay (Dewas PAP).
