Deputy Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) supports the steps taken by the TNI Commander to crush the Papuan KKB

Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI Syarief Hasan expressed his support for the steps taken by the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General TNI Andika Perkasa, to crush the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) because it was disturbing and caused casualties.

"The Papuan KKB must be decisively crushed immediately," said Syarief Hasan in a written statement received in Jakarta, Monday.

So far, he said, the Papuan KKB has carried out acts of violence to murder against the public and the police. Therefore, this group must be decimated immediately so that it does not continue to cause casualties.

From January to March 2022 the Papuan KKB has committed seven acts of terror and left 13 people dead and others injured. In fact, the Head of the Regional State Intelligence Agency (Kabinda Papua) also became a victim of the group's atrocities.
 
Along the way, the government has tried to suppress Papuan KKB, including taking a communicative approach. However, these steps have not been able to reduce the acts of terror carried out by the KKB.

"In fact, its brutal actions against civilians are increasing. Therefore, the Papuan KKB must be decisively crushed," said Syarief Hasan.

He said the involvement of the TNI would help accelerate the crackdown on the Papuan KKB. The TNI and Polri are considered to be mutually supportive in crushing the Papuan KKB.

"We hope that these forces can bring a sense of security in the Papua region," said the member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

According to the Democrat politician, the crackdown on the Papuan KKB should be carried out like the crackdown on the armed violence group in Poso led by Ali Kalora.
