Support the Expansion in Papua, Tabi Traditional Forum: We Want All Communities to be Prosperous



The Tabi Customary Council Forum expressed support for the government's plan to establish a new autonomous region (DOB) in Papua Province. The regional expansion in Papua is considered to have an impact on public services and welfare.

Head of the Association of Heads of All Tabi Lands, Mathius Awoitauw said the Tabi indigenous people agree with the central government's plan to establish new autonomous regions in Papua.
 
"As regional leaders, we want all people to be prosperous, so this must be accepted because it is for the welfare of the community as well," said Mathius, Sunday (8/5/2022).

According to him, with the formation of new autonomous regions, all wheels of government will be carried out by leading the area according to their respective cultures and cultures, even services can reach all isolated places.
 
"Like us in the Tabi area, it remains a Papua Province which oversees two traditional territories, namely Tabi and Saireri. However, the most important thing is that our Papuan identity should not be lost or eroded because of the new autonomous region," he said.

The chairman of the Sarmi District Tribal Customary Council (DAS) Lukas Worone said his party also supports the formation of new autonomous regions in Papua Province

According to Lukas, DOB is important because it is related to the election of life and government.

"This means that a leader can take good care of the local community. We have wanted expansion for a long time, so we continue to support the central government's plan for new autonomous regions in Papua," he said.
