Jayapura Regency Government invites people to take care of nature



The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Jayapura, Papua invites the entire community to maintain and be friendly with nature so that the land remains green.

Jayapura Deputy Regent Giri Wijayantoro in a press release received by Antara in Jayapura, Sunday, said that not all places can be used as housing because green land is very important for the younger generation in the future.

"Everyone must change the paradigm of development that is carried out not only required to carry out environmental management but also how to protect the environment," he said.

According to Giri, development can be realized with careful planning so that it can be carried out with an environmental perspective, especially in Jayapura Regency, there are several watersheds and water catchment areas.

"It is very suitable for planting sago trees so that they can become water catchment areas," he said.

He explained that he hoped that the commemoration of World Environment Day would be a sign of alertness to continue to strive and work hard to overcome various problems related to the environment.

"So that other people can get their rights to get a good environment, especially justice for future generations where this natural wealth is passed down from generation to generation," he said again.

Just for information, Deputy Regent of Jayapura Giri Wijayantoro attended the commemoration of the 50th Papua Province World Environment Day which was centered in Kehiran II, Ifale Village, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency.
