Moeldoko: Cenderawasih Bay Sail 2023 Shows Papua Full of Hope

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko emphasized the importance of the 2023 Teluk Cenderawasih Sail (STC) event. The reason is that the event is a momentum to show the world that Papua is full of hope.

“The Cenderawasih Bay sailing should not be just a ceremony, but must be able to open a window to the world, and show that this is Papuan people. Papua is safe, Papua is full of extraordinary potential, and Papua is full of hope," said Moeldoko when giving directions regarding the readiness to implement STC 2023 in Biak Numfor Papua Regency, quoted from the KSP press release on Wednesday (1/6).

Moeldoko said that the implementation of the 2023 STC has been included in the planning framework for the acceleration of the development of the Land of Papua, especially the development and development of the potential of marine resources and tourism.

Therefore, the STC 2023 event must be fully utilized by regencies/cities in the Cenderawasih Bay area to show their respective advantages and potentials.

"I am optimistic that the Cenderawasih Bay Sail will become a lever for accelerating the development of Papua's welfare and a reinforcing factor between indigenous territories. This must be used really, "he said.

On that occasion, Moeldoko also ensured that the Presidential Staff Office would oversee the legal process for the implementation of the Cenderawasih Bay Sail (STC) 2023. "Especially overseeing and encouraging the issuance of the Presidential Instruction regarding support for the 2023 STC implementation," he explained.

For information, the Cenderawasih Bay Area, which is located in the north of the island of Papua, has a lot of potential that can be offered to world countries. Especially, the fisheries and maritime sectors. Moreover, the Cenderawasih Bay basin which is directly connected to the Pacific Ocean is a window in eastern Indonesia, as well as dealing with neighboring countries and the Melanesian race in the South Pacific.

Therefore, President Joko Widodo welcomes the initiation of the Biak Numfor regional government to hold the Teluk Cenderawasih Sail (STC) event in 2023.
