The Ministry of PUPR Builds 29 Bridges in the Merauke-Sorong Section of Papua



The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) built 29 bridges on the Merauke-Sorong segment, Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua. The construction of this bridge is part of the continuation of the Trans Papua Road program which will open up isolated areas and improve connectivity between regencies/cities in West Papua.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said connectivity between regions needs to be continuously improved so that the flow of goods, services and people can be smoother and more efficient. With good connectivity, it is hoped that regional economic growth will increase.

"The bridge with a total length of 511.5 meters was built with a budget of Rp. 236.55 billion in FY 2022 through six work packages," said Head of the West Papua National Road Implementation Center Gunadi Antariksa in a press statement, Sunday (5/6/2022). ).

The bridge construction package includes the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore Bridge (Papua Province Boundary) I for 90 meters and the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore Bridge (Papua Province Boundary) II for 96.5 meters which are part of the construction of the Trans Papua Merauke-Sorong section.

The work package for the two bridges was built through the Multi Years Contract (MYC) scheme for 2022-2024 which consists of 21 bridge constructions. Among them are the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore Bridge Package I with 10 bridges and the Kampung Muri-Kwatisore II Bridge Package with 11 bridges. For 2022, a budget of Rp 93.2 billion has been allocated.

Furthermore, the 74-meter-long Telaga I Cs Bridge construction package has been implemented since January 24, 2022 according to the contract with the current physical progress of 7.38 percent.

The budget for the Telaga I Cs Bridge work package is sourced from the APBN worth Rp. 33.2 billion by means of a Single Years Contract (SYC) for FY 2022, which consists of four bridges, namely the 18 meter long Telaga 1 Bridge, 18 meter long Telaga 2 Bridge, and 18 meter long Telaga 3 Bridge. meters, and the Telaga 4 Bridge with a length of 20 meters.

Then the package for the construction of the 73.6-meter Werianggi-Ambuni Bridge connecting Windesi District with Kuri Wamesa District consists of 5 works, namely the construction of the 12-meter-long Akram II Bridge, 16.6-meter-long Akram III Bridge, and 15-meter-long Akram V Bridge. , Waro 1 Bridge is 15 meters long, and Rival Bridge is 15 meters long.

The construction of the bridge is targeted to start in June 2022 and finish in December 2022 with a budget of IDR 33.1 billion.

The construction package for the 82.4-meter Log Cs Bridge worth Rp 38.6 billion, which consists of 4 works, namely the construction of the 15.6-meter Log 70 Bridge, 20.6-meter-long Log 75 Bridge, 25.6-meter Log 76 Bridge, and the 20.6 meter long Log 77 Bridge.

Construction of the bridge has started since February 14, 2022 according to the contract with a progress of 30.87 percent and is targeted for completion by the end of 2022.

Finally, the 95-meter Mawin I Cs Bridge work package consists of the construction of the 50-meter-long Mawin I Bridge, 20-meter-long Mawin XXVII B Bridge, and 25-meter-long Log 23 Bridge.

Construction of the bridge began in January with a construction progress of 20.77 percent and is targeted for completion by the end of 2022.

Gunadi said, in addition to the bridge, the PUPR Ministry also continued the construction of the Merauke-Sorong Trans Papua road in Teluk Wondama Regency such as the construction of the 8.5 km Muri-Kwatisore Village Road, the 20.28 km Simpang Goro-Kampung Muri Road, The Mameh-Windesi Road is 9.3 km long, and the Mameh-Windesi Simpang Tiga Road is 11 km long.

"The challenges in the construction of road and bridge infrastructure in Papua include the weather and natural conditions which are still in the form of forests with quite severe geographical conditions in almost all segments," he said.

However, the opening of connectivity on the island of Papua, especially in mountainous areas, will open up the isolation of the region. In addition, it will also reduce the price of goods, and reduce regional disparities.
