Timika deserves to be the capital of the province of Central Papua

Although it is still a debate whether pemekaran is approved or rejected, reflecting the current dynamics, an interesting statement emerged from one of the members of Commission IV DPR Papua, Thomas Sondegau.

He even stated that the division would certainly continue, especially for Central Papua. For this reason, he also believes that a suitable location to be the capital of Central Papua is Timika.

According to Thomas, all of Timika is very ready and worthy to be the capital city of Central Papua Province with various indicators. Starting from the location, access, airfield, materials and the existence of seven tribes that already exist in that location.

Thomas himself did not want to think in doubt because he believed that Central Papua would certainly become and Timika, which he felt was right to be the provincial capital. "The airport is very decent, road access, as well as materials and the location of the capital city have also been prepared so I believe that Timika is the most suitable," he said.

In addition, access to Timika has also been connected to Deiyai, Dogiyai, Paniai and Intan Jaya. Previously, apart from Timika, the Nabire Regency which had been raised was another option. However, Thomas sees that it takes a lot of preparation for the arrangement and others if in Nabire. "You need to prepare a lot of things in Nabire," he added.

Asked whether he supports the expansion, said Thomas, the central government is believed to still ratify the division, especially for Central Papua, because this speaks of the interests of the state. "There will definitely be those who refuse but that is normal and what is needed now is that we need to prepare everything if that time (of pemekaran) will come," concluded Thomas.
