Papua Manpower Office Conducts OAP Special Internship to Reduce Unemployment
Head of the Papua Province Manpower Sector, Hans Himber said that the domestic apprenticeship held by his service prioritized Papuan People (OAP) to reduce unemployment in Cenderawasih Earth.
"We prioritize the business world and industry, so we must recruit a lot of Papuan children to reduce unemployment," he said in Jayapura, Monday (18/7/2022).
He added that unemployment from 2021 fell from 4.28 percent to 3.33 percent of open unemployment.
Disperindagkop and Manpower Papua Province hopes that the workers recruited for apprenticeship can be absorbed.
"We hope that these 120 apprentices can be absorbed in the business world and industry. If not all of them, at least 70 percent are absorbed," he said
Hans continued that the apprenticeship is so that all workers can be well absorbed in the industrial and business worlds.
As many as 150 people from three regencies, namely 10 people from Merauke, 10 people from Timika and 10 people from Biak and 120 others from Jayapura City.
Hans hopes that the apprentices will have great job opportunities because they have competency certificates.
This is a central government program, funded from the state budget. He hopes that in 2023 there will be a sharing of funds from the APBD or Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds and the central budget.
This apprenticeship requires skills and the service provides briefing, namely culture and work discipline that must be prioritized by participants in the company.
"If the work culture must be disciplined, before they go to apprenticeship we provide provisions, because the next provisions in our company only direct. In accordance with company regulations," he said.
