The 2022 National Assessment for High Schools in West Papua is running smoothly
The first day of the evaluation of improving the quality of education through the 2022 National Assessment (AN) at the High School (SMA) level in areas with internet access in West Papua went smoothly.
The head of the West Papua Provincial Education Office's High School Division, Timothy Kambu, confirmed by telephone on Monday, that the implementation of the AN or computer-based national assessment program (ANBK) was running smoothly in public schools according to the national schedule.
"For the public high school level in West Papua, we will adjust it according to the nationally applicable AN schedule, but private schools implement it according to the readiness of each school," said Timothy.
He explained that AN was an online evaluation program to improve the quality of education by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud).
"AN 2022 is an evaluation to improve the quality of education by photographing the input, process, and output of learning in all educational units (school levels)," he said.
However, Timothy did not deny the obstacles faced by a number of high schools in the implementation of the 2022 AN, especially high schools in villages and islands that are still unreachable by internet facilities or in blank spot areas.
Faced with these conditions, said Timothy, high schools from villages and islands such as Raja Ampat Regency, carry out AN in schools that have adequate computer facilities and internet facilities.
"The solution is that high schools from blank spot areas in villages and island regions such as Raja Ampat must stay at the Regency Capital High School in Waisai District during today's implementation," he said explaining the situation at hand.
On this occasion, Timothy Kambu said that AN 2022 is a means to evaluate conditions in areas that are still very limited in terms of facilities and infrastructure.
"Speaking of the quality of education, not only from an academic point of view, but also facilities are very decisive, especially the availability of the internet which is still an obstacle from year to year," said Timothy Kambu.
Separately, the Principal of the Christian Education Foundation (YPK) SMA Oikumene Manokwari, Max Marisan, in Manokwari stated that his school was ready to take part in AN 2022 which will be held on Wednesday as an opportunity to evaluate the quality of education at the oldest school in West Papua.
"YPK Oikumene Manokwari High School is ready in terms of participants and facilities to take part in the AN which starts on Wednesday (31/8), we will convey the conditions we have faced so far, and even receive an evaluation for the sake of improving the quality of our school services to be even better," said Marisan.
