Dishub Kaimana helps implement the online motorcycle taxi transportation system

The Department of Transportation of Kaimana Regency, West Papua, helped implement the online motorcycle taxi (ojol) transportation system in the area in line with the development and progress of information technology.

Head of the Kaimana Transportation Service (Dishub) Daniel Irto Batto in Kaimana, Tuesday, said that with the current development and advancement of information technology, inevitably all types of businesses, including ojol businesses, must also be able to adapt to the times.

"We will try to implement the online motorcycle taxi system in Kaimana from the manual system so far," said Daniel.

According to him, for the current conditions, even for the next two to three years, ojol transportation services are a bit difficult to implement in Kaimana due to several obstacles, including that many passengers do not have Android mobile phones, especially residents who come from inland and coastal villages. .

"Even if they have Android phones, there will be problems with data credit. Then there are still many motorcycle taxi drivers who don't use Android phones," he said.

Despite facing such a situation, according to Daniel, the rapid development of information technology requires all parties to be able to adapt to the implementation of the new work system.

Currently, several ojol service providers have offered to operate in Kaimana by recruiting local motorcycle taxi drivers.

"There have been several online service providers offering themselves. We have also offered to motorcycle taxi users, but they still object because of some of the considerations earlier," he said.

Daniel said the online motorcycle taxi business is actually very helpful for the community, because apart from being a means of transportation for passenger transportation, it is also to encourage the growth of MSMEs, especially online ordering, tourism, and others.

"Inevitably, everyone has to follow developments. We cannot continue as we are today. This online motorcycle taxi actually really helps the economy, especially MSMEs, for online orders so that people don't have to move out, tourism is also helped. , but in the next one or two years we will try to implement it," said Daniel.
