Luke Enembe's alleged Rp 560 billion transaction was revealed to an overseas gambling casino

The Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK) revealed findings regarding allegations of improper money storage and management by Papua Governor Lukas Enembe.

There were at least 12 PPATK findings, one of which was related to cash deposits allegedly channeled by Lukas Enembe to gambling casinos whose value was estimated at more than half a trillion.

PPATK suspected that Lukas Enembe was involved in gambling activities in two countries.

"One of the results of the analysis is related to the cash deposit transaction in question at a gambling casino worth 55 million dollars (Singapore) or Rp. 560 billion rupiah. The cash deposit is made within a certain period," said PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana at a press conference at the Ministry Office. Coordinator for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam), Monday (19/9/2022).

In addition, PPATK also found allegations of improper cash deposits made by the man who was recently named a suspect in the alleged Rp 1 billion gratification case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Ivan said the unnatural cash deposit was made in a short period of time with a fantastic value of up to IDR 5 million Singapore dollars.

Then, still using the cash deposit method, it was recorded that there was a purchase of a luxury watch worth 55,000 Singapore dollars or around Rp. 550 million.

"PPATK has also received information that it is collaborating with other countries and that there are gambling activities in two different countries. PPATK has also analyzed it and PPATK has submitted it to the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission)," said Ivan.

In this case, PPATK has frozen a number of transactions allegedly made by Lukas to several people through 11 financial service providers.

The eleven financial service providers cover insurance to banks. Its value is more than IDR 71 billion.

In fact, according to PPATK, the suspicious transaction also involved Lukas Enembe's son.

"The majority of transactions carried out at Rp 71 billion were carried out by the child in question, the son in question (Lukas Enembe)," said Ivan.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that Enembe was suspected of having a money laundering manager.

"Then there is also a money laundering manager that is carried out or owned by Lukas Enembe," said Mahfud.

However, Mahfud MD did not elaborate on the money laundering manager.

He only said that the case against Enembe was not only about the alleged gratuity of Rp. 1 billion.

Meanwhile, other cases are still being investigated, namely the operational funds for the leadership to the management funds for the National Sports Week (PON).

Complete inspection and cooperative

In addition, Mahfud MD asked Lukas Enembe to fulfill the KPK's summons regarding the case that ensnared him.

He ensured that if the alleged corruption case was not proven, Enembe would not be arrested. On the other hand, if Luke is proven to be involved then he must be held responsible.

“Lukas Enembe, in my opinion, if the KPK is called, just come. If there is not enough evidence, all of us are here to guarantee their release," said Mahfud MD.

"But, if there is enough evidence, we must be responsible because we have agreed to build a clean and peaceful Papua," he said again.

Treatment facilitation

Meanwhile, the KPK stated that it was ready to facilitate Enembe's treatment.

This health factor also made Enembe absent from the KPK's summons to be examined regarding the gratification case.

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata said that his party was ready to facilitate treatment as a form of respect for Enembe's rights as a suspect.

“If, for example, Pak Lukas wants to seek treatment, we will also certainly facilitate. We will respect the rights of the suspects," said Alexander Marwata.

Then, Alexander Marwata confirmed that the KPK investigation only found allegations of gratuities worth Rp. 1 billion. This is also the case for clarification of witnesses and investigation documents.

"However, we are still developing other cases," he said.

Don't want bloodshed

Alexander Marwata also stated that the forced pick-up of Lukas Enembe depends on the situation.

This is because his party does not want to force Enembe's forced pick-up because the situation in Papua is not conducive.

"We see the situation, we can't force it if the situation is like that. We don't want bloodshed or riots as a result of our efforts," said Alexander Marwata.

He also said that his party had ordered investigators to summon Lukas Enembe again.

"Today we ordered to be called again," said Alexander Marwata.
