Mahfud MD: Papua Governor Lukas Enembe's alleged corruption of hundreds of billions

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD revealed that the alleged corruption committed by the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe reached hundreds of billions, not Rp1 billion. Mahfud said this refers to the report of the Financial Transaction Analysis Reporting Center (PPATK).

"I want to convey that the alleged corruption that was handed down to Lukas Enembe, who later became a suspect, was not just a suspect, not just a Rp1 billion gratuity," Mahfud said at a press conference, Monday (19/9). "There are reports from PPATK regarding allegations of corruption or improper handling of the storage or management of hundreds of billions of money," he added.

Mahfud said in the report, hundreds of billions of dollars were detected in 12 analysis results also submitted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). "In the 12 analysis results submitted by the KPK," he said. Previously, the Governor of Papua as well as a cadre of the Democratic party, Lukas Enembe, had been officially named a suspect by the KPK. This was officially revealed by the Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Alexander Marwata.

"Regarding the [Lukas Enembe's] sprindik, it is gratification or bribery, of course the gratification or bribery can be related to the licensing process and also related to the process of procuring goods and services. At most, in Papua it is related to the process of procuring goods and services, especially infrastructure development," said Deputy Chairman of the KPK Alexander Marwata, Wednesday (14/9). "Where did the funds come from? From the APBD it includes special autonomy funds. The special autonomy funds are also included in the APBD," he continued.

Regarding this case, Syarief Hasan as a member of the Democratic party's upper house stated that the Democratic party would respect the legal process that is running at the KPK.
