The Biak Regency Government encourages planting chilies in the yard
The government of Biak Numfor Regency, Papua, has instructed the ranks of the state civil apparatus (ASN) together with residents and school students to promote the chili planting program in their respective backyards and private gardens.
"Chili is one of the agricultural commodities that contributes to inflation, so ASN, students and Biak residents are asked to plant chilies in their home yards or private gardens," said Biak Deputy Regent Numfor Calvin Mansnembra in Biak, Monday.
He said that the regent of Herry Ario Naap had launched the chili planting movement since August 18, 2022.
Deputy Regent Calvin said that the home and school yards have the potential to be planted with chilies so that they can meet the daily needs of the community so as to reduce inflation.
"Growing chili is something easy so ASN, students, and Biak residents must succeed in planting chili programs in schools and homes," he said.
Deputy Regent Calvin admitted, planting chili if it works well can be a business opportunity for families to increase household economic income.
"Planting chili also means participating in supporting and maintaining the food security program in Biak," said Deputy Regent Calvin.
