The Ministry of PUPR Initiates the Trans-Papua Road for the Jayapura-Wamena Segment for the Mamberamo-Elelim Segment

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) held a Market Sounding or assessment of market interest for the construction project of the Trans-Papua Road for the Jayapura-Wamena Segment of the Mamberamo-Elelim Segment in Papua. The project is offered through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.
 
The Director of Implementation of Road and Bridge Infrastructure Financing of the PUPR Ministry, Reni Ahiantini said that the 50.14 km road construction project has an investment value of IDR 3.526 trillion and a concession period of 15 years.
 
"This project is a Solicited PPP project with an Availability Payment (AP) investment return scheme which is planned to be auctioned in the fourth quarter of 2022," said Reni, quoted from the PUPR Ministry website, Saturday (10/9/2022).

As part of the non-toll road which is the regional backbone in Papua, the existence of the Trans-Papua Road, the Jayapura-Wamena segment, the Mamberamo-Elelim segment will improve the economy and increase the availability of the road network in Papua.

“The construction of the Trans-Papua Road will support the production and processing centers of Indonesia's 237 natural resources, where national energy reserves are generated. The Jayapura-Wamena section of the Mamberamo-Elelim segment will become a significant arterial road because it supports economic activities and functions on the island of Papua," said Reni.

Market Sounding is a forum for the government to convey comprehensive information about PPP projects. This activity is also carried out to solicit input, feedback, and interest from investors and stakeholders on the PPP project offered by the Ministry of PUPR as the Person in Charge of the Cooperation Project (PJPK) or the Government Contracting Agency.

Through the PPP scheme, the provision of infrastructure services can be carried out without being completely dependent on the availability of the government budget, thereby accelerating infrastructure development in Indonesia. In addition, the government can provide various facilities and conveniences, including partial construction financing, feasibility support, and guarantees for PPP projects.
