The inauguration of the Acting Governor of DOB will be held at the end of October

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) John Wempi Wetipo said, if there were no changes, by the end of October 2022, the inauguration and inauguration of the Acting Governors in 3 New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Papua.

"If this is done, it will speed up the process of administering the government, because the Acting Officer will work for a duration of 2 years to prepare the transitional government," the former Jayawijaya Regent told reporters, Saturday (1/10) night.

The Deputy Minister continued, explaining that for regional apparatuses that use the minimum standard of OPD in one province, only 22 are used, including the 2023 APBD draft. In addition, the assets of the parent province built in the new autonomous region are automatically granted to the new province.
 
“Now what we see is which area is most ready to be concentrated, which is the point of inauguration which is carried out symbolically. Is it in Nabire, Wamena or in Merauke," he explained. The Deputy Minister also mentioned the names of the existing officials in the three new autonomous regions in Papua.
 
"If the Acting Governor is sworn in, the next SKPD will be inaugurated. So that the government administration process can run, because we have prepared office buildings to borrow from the main district,” he said.

When asked about the Papuan people's request that the Acting Governor be Papuan, the Deputy Minister said that could happen. However, the provisions state that the Acting Governors are those with the status of Middle High Officials.

"The question for middle high officials is whether there are Papuans or not, now we cannot force Papuans to become Acting Officers because on the other hand there are no hooks. So if there are no Papuans, that will definitely happen (the Acting Governor will be filled with people from outside)," he said.
 
Regarding the new autonomous regions, the Deputy Minister, who is the team leader, has given assignments to the team that has been formed by the Working Group. There are those who handle the areas of Central Papua, Papua Mountains and South Papua.

“The Pokjas worked for two weeks to clear the status of the land to be the provincial capital in Central Papua, South Papua and Papua Mountains. Also the OPD office which will be used temporarily during the preparation process has been cleared," he said.

It is said, from the results of the evaluation conducted in the three new autonomous regions. Everything is ready, including grant support from the Parent Province. "The money that is donated cannot be transferred because the 3 new autonomous regions do not yet have their Acting Governor," he concluded.
