The Manokwari government invites the GKI congregation to maintain peace

The Manokwari Regency Government invites the congregation of the Evangelical Christian Church (GKI) and all church denominations to maintain the continuity of peace in West Papua.

The Regent of Manokwari, Hermus Indou, in Manokwari, Wednesday, emphasized that peace in West Papua and especially in Manokwari Regency needs to be maintained because development is carried out using public money.

"So if we destroy the city or even damage the GKI itself, then we destroy ourselves," said Hermus.

In general, he invites the wider community in Manokwari to take care of the government facilities that have been built. Hermus also emphasized that the GKI congregation and the wider community should not be influenced by the developing ideology, especially those which essentially invite riots.

"Don't give tolerance to people who invite us to destroy the city that we have built," he stressed.

The head of the Manokwari GKI Classical Workers Body, Pastor Melkianus Warfandu, hopes that the GKI congregation in the future must change by abandoning all roadblocks and things that trigger conflicts at the religious and government levels.

He invited the congregation to grow together hand in hand in a togetherness accompanied by synergy with the government and the church to embrace the togetherness of all people in the City of the Gospel of Manokwari.

Melkianus reminded that GKI is a mature and independent church as well as a missionary in developing God's mission, especially in Papua.

The celebration of the 66th GKI Anniversary in Papua on Wednesday in Manokwari was held at the Sanggeng Stand, Sanggeng Village in West Manowkari District and was attended by thousands of GKI congregations throughout Manokwari as well as district and provincial Forkopimda leaders.

The celebration of the GKI Anniversary was held with a thanksgiving service which was attended by the entire congregation and took place with wisdom.
 
On that occasion, the Regent of Manokwari, Hermus Indou also handed over religious grants from the Manokwari Regency Government to 11 parties for the construction of new churches and the construction of GKI support facilities in Manokwari with the lowest nominal reaching Rp. 35 million and the highest reaching Rp. 1.1 billion.
