Greet the Acting Governor of South Papua Apolo Safanpo, Crowded Residents of Mopah Merauke Airport

Thousands of residents from four districts in the southern region of Papua, namely Merauke, Asmat, Mappi and Boven Digul enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of the Acting Governor of South Papua, Apolo Safanpo in Merauke Regency, Friday (18/11/2022).

From media monitoring at Mopah Airport, residents of the Marind, Mappi, Muyu, Mandobo, Asmat and Auyu tribes from the four regencies respectively performed traditional dances and songs.
 
A number of ethnic Indonesians also participated in the welcoming ceremony for the Acting Governor at the local airport.
 
Still being monitored, residents were also seen crowding Jalan Marthadinata, Mandala and Brawijaya to wait for the newly appointed Acting Governor.

Acting Governor of South Papua Apolo Safanpo and his entourage arrived at Mopah Merauke Airport on Friday morning by Garuda flight from Jakarta.

He was greeted by the regents, elements of Muspida, traditional leaders, religious leaders and thousands of people.
 
Apolo Safanpo, accompanied by his wife Ade Irma Suriyani, was 'paraded' from Mopah Airport to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Statue Park, which is approximately 300 meters from the airport. Next, a prayer of thanksgiving was carried out led by Pastor John Kandam.

The initiator of the South Papua Province, Johanes Gluba Gebze, in his remarks stated that the aspirations for the division of the South Papua Province (PPS) which had been fought for for more than 20 years could finally be realized.
 
After presenting PPS, the government also appointed one of the best regional sons from South Papua, namely Apolo Safanpo as Acting Governor of the new province.

“South Papua is our big house, the organizers and organizers have been sent to organize and organize. Thank you to the government who has also been willing and gave up, because 20 years we have been knocking on doors. Finally after 20 years the door has been opened,” said Gluba.
 
Gluba stated that this day was a special and historic day for all people in the southern region of Papua, because Acting Governor Apolo Safanpo began to carry out the mission of God and the state.
 
The community is invited to fully support the Acting Governor and his apparatus in carrying out the initial administration of the South Papua Province.

"We must support him (Apolo Safanpo) to successfully run this initial administration with the tasks that have been regulated by a Presidential Decree or Presidential Decree whose contents are already there for him," Gluba said.

"Yesterday I was nothing, I am just a coordinator who invites you all to unite to fight for South Papua. We coordinate all forces, if you all don't support too, it's useless for me. Starting today this province is running, and starting today the people of South Papua can show their existence," he continued.
 
Gluba hopes that Acting Governor Apolo Safanpo and Regional Secretary Sugiarto and their officials can run the wheels of government properly, correctly and proportionally.

“Please help us so that what is the will and this mandate is not betrayed. Running South Papua well so that all children of this country and brothers and sisters from the Association of Indonesian Archipelago can manage it wisely and live side by side," he added.
