The Lanny Regency Government encourages productive Papuans to manage government assistance

The government of Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Province, encourages residents who receive government assistance to manage this assistance so that they can be productive and provide income in a sustainable manner.

"So far, the community has only been consumptive in nature. In the future, we will arrange it again with standard operating procedures for distributing aid so that they must be productive from the potential that exists in each village and district. They manage it well with support through Lanny Jaya Mandiri," said the Acting Lanny Jaya Regent, Petrus Wakerkwa in Wamena, Friday.

Petrus Wakerwa reminded that since 2018, the government has distributed various assistance through the Lanny Jaya Mandiri, Smart and Healthy (MCS) program.

The government hopes that with the help of funds that are distributed regularly every year, the community can open their businesses, for example in the agricultural sector there is coffee development and honey bee cultivation.

"We encourage that with this program we can see Lanny Jaya people who actually have businesses such as raising rabbits, we encourage them in the form of money and equipment, raising honey bees so that they can develop in the future," he said.

The government plans to be more assertive so that people are motivated not to continue to expect assistance from the government.

At the meeting involving all district heads, members of the regional people's representative council (DPRD) and heads of regional apparatus organizations, they also evaluated the Lanny Jaya Smart program.

The Regent said that the MCS program actually really helps the community, but in the education sector, for example, some people who are funded by the government are said to be unable to finish their lectures well quickly.

"After we directly monitored the city of study where they studied, we saw that he was too relaxed studying, did not pace himself, so we will rearrange it," said Petrus.
