Rallies against the G20 in Jayapura were infiltrated by the KNPB

The police confirmed that the chaos during the demonstration in front of the gate of Cenderawasih University (Uncen) Abepura which occurred on Wednesday (16/11/2022) was infiltrated by the West Papua National Committee (KNPB).

Jayapura City Police Chief, Kombes Pol Victor Mackbon said the results of the initial investigation, the demonstration which was claimed to be from a combination of students in Jayapura City, turned out not to all have student status.

"KNPB infiltrated yesterday's demonstration, including a number of alliances that are members of KNPB," said Mackbon in Jayapura, Thursday (17/11/2022).

This strengthened the police's excuse for not allowing the demonstration to take place from the start.

"We will be even stricter and more selective. Submission of aspirations is not prohibited, as long as we comply with the rules and respect the applicable provisions. For this incident, ask the field coordinator to take responsibility for this action," he explained.

The police reasoned that officers in the field took firm action in the public interest.

In yesterday's riotous demonstration, the police took 7 demonstrators who were suspected of being provocateurs and perpetrators of resistance to officers in the field.

"These 7 people are still being investigated by investigators. After the title of the case, we will update it again," Victor said.
