BPOM Manokwari assists 20 food business actors

The Manokwari Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) in 2022 has assisted 20 household food entrepreneurs from Manokwari Regency, South Manokwari Regency and Fak-fak Regency to develop.

Head of BPOM Manokwari Musthofa Anwari, in Manokwari, Friday, stated that the products from household food entrepreneurs varied from processed breadfruit chips, ransiki chocolate (cokran) and processed nutmeg where all of these products were confirmed to have a distribution permit.

"This is a form of support from BPOM to advance the processed food industry. We will also help with licensing matters," said Musthofa.

He said that since the issuance of the Job Creation Law Number 11 of 2020, food household business permits have been accelerated from previously being able to reach 2 weeks, now there is one day left for permits to be issued as long as the business actor has a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) and Business Permit Number (NIB).

Musthofa assesses that West Papua Province has abundant natural resources so it is up to the community to take the opportunity to manage them properly and turn them into processed food products.

He also ensured that the food household entrepreneurs assisted by BPOM in 2022 would have increased their class from previously having the status of a Household Food Industry (IRTP) to now an MD or a food industry that is larger than a household.

"We will continue to build collaborations with the Provincial Government of West Papua and the government at the district level so that we can continue to assist developing food businesses. Because apart from providing assistance, we can also supervise," explained Musthofa.
