The Manokwari Police have named three suspects in the treason case

The Manokwari Resort Police, West Papua, have named three suspects in the alleged treason case in the action of dozens of residents commemorating the anniversary of West Papua New Guinea (WPNG) in the Wosi Manokwari Terminal area, Sunday (27/11).

"Of the 15 people questioned, three of them were named suspects and immediately detained, namely AN, YK and AB with the stipulation of Article 106 of the Criminal Code on treason," said Head of Manokwari Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Parasian Police Herman Gultom to reporters at the Manokwari Police Headquarters. , Monday.

The police chief said the three suspects had different roles in the action which was contrary to the rule of law, namely the suspect AN was the main actor who acted as a liaison between Manokwari West Papua and the person who was referred to as the president of the WPNG group.

"The suspect AN admits that he has a direct relationship with an individual in the Netherlands who is considered the president, the suspect YK acts as the coordinator of the action at the Wosi Manokwari Terminal, and the suspect AB acts as a liaison for the local community of West Papua," said the police chief.
 
The results of the investigation revealed that dozens of people who attended the WPNG group action were residents from the districts of Kaimana, Fakfak and Maybrat who gathered and held a joint action at the Wosi Manokwari Terminal.

"So, this group admits that November 27 is their historic day so that the 2022 celebration will be held in Manokwari. However, this is contrary to the ideology of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia because there are cries for an independent Papua to the display of symbols that are prohibited in our country," said the police chief.

On that occasion, the Police Chief also appealed to the people of Manokwari to help create a conducive atmosphere ahead of December 1, 2022 and avoid inviting various irresponsible groups.
 
"We ensure that there are no activities from any groups that conflict with ideology at the moment of December 1 because they will definitely be dealt with according to the laws in force in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said the Head of Manokwari Police.
