Uncen Chancellor to Kajati Will Be Inaugurated as Acting Governor of Papua New Guinea

It is reported that the Chancellor of the University of Cendrawasih (Uncen) Apolo Safanpo will be sworn in as the acting (Pj) Governor of South Papua by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, on Friday (11/11).

"Yes, for [the Acting Governor] of South Papua, Mr. Apolo Safanpo," Asmat Deputy Regent Thomas Eppe Safanpo told CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (10/11).

Thomas said that the Head of the Papuan High Prosecutor's Office, Nikolaus Kondomo, was also rumored to be inducted as the Acting Governor of Papua Mountains. Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Province Social, Population, Women Empowerment and Child Protection Service, Ribka Haluk, was appointed as the Acting Governor of Central Papua.

"Yes, Rebekah's mother is a woman," said Thomas.

Contacted separately, the Head of Penuspen at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Benny Irwan, claimed that he was still waiting for a Presidential Decree (Keppres) regarding the three acting governors in the three new Papua provinces.
 
"We are waiting for the Presidential Decree, yes," said Benny.
 
Quoted from the official website of the University of Cendrawasih, Apolo Safanpo is the rector who has held a position at the University since 2017 until now. Apollo received a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Surakarta State University in 1999. Then he obtained a doctoral degree at Diponegoro University, Semarang in 2016.

Prior to becoming rector, Apollo served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in 2012-2017, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering from 2003-2005, Assistant Dean III of the Faculty of Engineering from 2005-2012.

Meanwhile, Nikolaus Kondomo is a prosecutor who has served as Kajati Papua since last November 2019.
Nikolaus is a native Papuan son. He served as Deputy High Prosecutor for Central Kalimantan and Deputy High Prosecutor for Papua.

Meanwhile, Rebekah Haluk is a bureaucrat in Papua. He still serves as Acting Regent of Yalimo at this time. Ribka also briefly served as Acting Regent of Mappi in 2017 after the term of office of the Regent and deputy regent in the region ended.
