The Ibele Jayawijaya Indigenous Community appreciates the construction of the puskesmas

The Ibele Indigenous People in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, appreciate the government for building a community health center (puskesmas) in Ibele District.

The head of the Ibele District Indigenous Peoples Institution (LMA), Loudwik Mosip in Wamena, Tuesday (8/11) said the government's efforts proved the attention to residents to get better health services.

"The construction of the puskesmas was indeed the hope of the community, which we then proposed to the government through the regent and in 2022 this was answered and it has been built," he said.

The people of Ibele District are waiting for the completion of the construction of the puskesmas so that it can be used immediately.

"We see that 65 percent of the construction of the puskesmas has been completed," he said.

Loudwik said that so far when they want to seek treatment, the community goes to the puskesmas in a neighboring district which is quite far away.

"Our community has been seeking treatment in Pelebaga District, but with the completion of the puskesmas which is currently being built, the community will be greatly helped," he said.

He added that in addition to the puskesmas, the government will also equip the public facilities with housing for doctors and nurses. This certainly helps medical workers not to live in the city or far from their place of duty.

Because the puskesmas is located close to the Ibele District Office, the community and the district government will be able to jointly supervise officers so they do not always leave their assigned places.

Not only puskesmas because the government is also temporarily building three healthy houses for the people there.

"There are three units of healthy housing assistance, one has been completed and that's what I can as Chair of the LMA and we thank you," he said.
