Vice President Ma'ruf Amin: Papua is still one and not divided

Deputy President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that Papua remains one and will not be divided even though the area has been split into six provinces.

"Even though administratively there are differences, Papua as a cultural unit is still intertwined in the big house, the Land of Papua. Papua is still one, not divided, Papua is still one, only (different) administrative services," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin during an audience with the ranks of the Papua Provincial Government, DPRP and MRP in Jayapura, Tuesday.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin who is also the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Development of Special Autonomy in Papua (BP3OKP) or the Papua Steering Committee (BPP), said the presence of a new province was something that could change the development of the Land of Papua more quickly and evenly.

"The state has implemented a policy to establish a new province in the Land of Papua. The presence of a new province to be addressed is a game changer, the key to changing the design of development and public services, so that they are closer to the grassroots," he explained.

Law (UU) Number 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy for the Papua Province, according to Ma'ruf Amin, gave a mandate for the birth of a special agency, the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Development of Special Autonomy for Papua, which was tasked with laying the foundations for the people of Papua.

The Vice President asked to strengthen the pattern of synchronization and coordination of harmonization between the central government, provincial government, district/city government to accelerate Papua's development.

There are six provinces namely Papua, West Papua, South Papua, Central Papua in Nabire, Highlands Papua and Southwest Papua
