Allegedly carrying rifles, two people were secured by the joint team at the Nabire Police

Located at the Nabire Seaport, 2 people had been secured who had just descended from KM Mount Dempo (going for Jayapura - Nabire) who were suspected of carrying guns, Saturday (17/12/2022) afternoon.

Head of the Nabire Resort Police AKBP I Ketut Suarnaya, SIK, SH said that the chronology of events, on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at around 13.00 WIT, information was obtained that at 14.00 WIT, a ship entered, and the info indicated that passengers were carrying firearms.
 
Based on this information, a joint team consisting of the Nabire Police and the Nabire Lanal ranks as well as other units moved to the Nabire Seaport.

"At 15.15 Wit, it was suspected that the perpetrator carrying the rifle was secured by the joint team, and had resisted by struggling to escape to escape, but the personnel managed to secure it and then brought it to the Nabire Police Station for further investigation," said the police chief.

"The results of an examination of the luggage and identities of the two people have the initials EMT and DT," continued the Chief of Police.

The evidence secured included a plastic short-barreled replica weapon, 2 hard/wooden objects wrapped in cloth resembling long-barreled weapons, 1 brown bag filled with leaves, a red and black backpack filled with clothes, and 2 pieces Vivo and Oppo HP brand units.

"When carrying out a search of the luggage in the bag, it was found that it contained leaves mixed with clothes and items resembling rifles, namely wood tied with rope to resemble a long-barreled gun and a toy (plastic) weapon tied with cloth to resemble a short-barreled weapon. ," said the police chief.

Currently the two people are being investigated by the Nabire Police Criminal Investigation Unit," concluded the Chief of Police.
