The Jayawijaya Regency Government provided Rp. 730 million for schools for the Asotipo Adventist Church

The government of Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Highlands Province, has distributed Rp 730 million in funding for one-roof Adventist elementary and junior high schools and the Adventist Church in Sogokmo Village, Asotipo District.

Jayawijaya Regent Jhon Richard Banua at the handover of the aid in Jayawijaya, Friday, said that this assistance program is the government's concern for the development of human resources (HR) and the development of the piety of the people.

"Today we handed over Rp. 500 million for schools and Rp. 230 million for the Adventist Church, which until now has not been completed. Hopefully these funds will be used for the completion of the building," he said.

He expressed his gratitude to the Adventist Foundation for taking part in helping the government to educate the nation's children in Jayawijaya.

"I promised to provide assistance and today we will deliver it. Thank you to the pastor who has provided guidance to our children," he said.

He appealed to the Education Office to look at schools in Jayawijaya, especially those that needed repairs so that they could be built properly.

"I hope that where there are schools that we need to build, we will build them, don't let the schools be demolished and build new ones," he said.

The Principal of the Sogokmo Adventist SD-SMP One-Roof School, Sernot Windewani, said the obstacle his party was facing was a lack of manpower.

Even so, his party is still trying to produce children who have competitiveness.

"Being a teacher in this mountainous area is very difficult. Maybe because of the influence of distance, culture and the political situation. Some teachers were sent here but didn't want to work. So it's just me as a foundation teacher, the rest are honorary teachers," he said.

The school hopes that the government will appoint honorary teachers who have served in that place, including filling the shortage of teachers in Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Physical Education.
