Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, revealed that three Mobile Brigade personnel received gunshot wounds during the shootout. The KKB intercepted a vehicle driven by Polri personnel
Kamal said that this time the KKB action was carried out by blocking members who were on their way to the KP3 Logpon while on patrol. The KKB members then shot the three BKO Brimob members of the Yahokimo Police.

Kamal explained, at around 15.10 WIT, 8 Cartenz 2022 Preventive Task Force personnel had just attended a rally at the Yahukimo Police Headquarters. After that they moved back to the Logpon KP3 Post.

"On the way to be precise at KM. 7, Besi Bridge, there was an ambush accompanied by gunfire by KKB Yahukimo," said Kamal.

There was a further shootout

Joint personnel of the Yahukimo Police, along with the Damai Cartenz Task Force and the TNI Kodim 1715 Yahukimo, who received a report via HT, responded to this information and moved towards the TKP.

Joint TNI-Polri personnel then arrived at the location. They then conducted a perimeter guard to secure the area. Follow-up firefights also occurred so that the joint team personnel gave chase and evacuated the three victims.

"The joint forces at Yahukimo are hunting down the shooters," he said.

The KM 7 Iron Bridge is indeed known as one of the points prone to attacks by the KKB. In March 2021, it is said that a group of civilians was fired upon by unknown persons there, but at that time there were no casualties.
