The Asmat Regency Government Provides Assistance for Indigenous Papuan MSME Actors

The regional government of the Asmat district handed over assistance to 398 micro, small and medium enterprises domiciled in Agats City.

The handover of the assistance was given directly by the Regent of Asmat, Elisa Kambu symbolically to four indigenous Papuan entrepreneurs.

The event for handing over capital assistance to indigenous Papuan entrepreneurs which was held at the Asmat District Education Office Hall Building, Wednesday (28/12) was witnessed directly by hundreds of small native Papuan entrepreneurs who are domiciled in Agats City.

The Regent of Kambu revealed that the Asmat district government actually wants to help all the people in the area.

However, because the local government also has limitations, this assistance will be provided in stages.

"The MSME assistance given to 398 Papuan women are those who have been recorded at the Perindagkop Service so far. That's women selling vegetables, fish sellers and the average groceries. There are also those who process their fish by frying, grilled sago and sold it with sweet potatoes, roasted sago," he said.

Elisa Kambu said that the assistance was based on data taken by the cooperative and umkm services for all indigenous Papuan entrepreneurs in Agats City and the distribution would be through Bank Papua.

In the future, the accounts for these beneficiaries will be monitored by the Asmat District Government.

Kambu said the assistance provided was aimed at increasing capital so that these small entrepreneurs could continue their business.

"We hope that this can also inspire other Papuan women in the district and all villages to be oriented towards joint efforts to improve the family's economy, women can too," he said.

He revealed that business capital assistance for indigenous Papuan entrepreneurs in Agats City this year was not too large.
Business capital assistance to 398 native Papuan entrepreneurs comes from the 2022 special autonomy fund.

"He added that from the assistance given to Papuan entrepreneurs, the local government does not discriminate or only provides assistance to indigenous Asmat people.

"If we saw earlier, they are indeed residents of Agats City, but they are also representatives of some of the Asmat ethnic groups. There are the Asmat people, there are the Kaigar people, there are those from Momuna, Muyu, Mandomo, Mimika and other Papuans," he concluded.

In addition to increasing the household economy for all indigenous Papuans who live in the city of Agats, the assistance provided also aims to empower all Papuan people.
