Increased Security By the Police Successfully Reduces Crime Rates in Papua Indonesia

The number of crimes in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Indonesia decreased by 60 percent as security increased by Jayawijaya Regional Police personnel in early 2020.

"We see crime 60 percent decreased from 90 percent. We support security by the police," said community leader in Jayawijaya District, Hengky Heselo.

In a discussion forum involving Jayawijaya Regional Police personnel and stakeholders in the Regency
Jayawijaya and Chair of the Potikelek Market Traders Association, Yonita Gombo, appreciated the increased security carried out by the National Police.

A merchant representative in Pasar Baru requested that Jayawijaya Regional Police personnel on patrol not only sit in the car but get down and ensure conditions were always safe and orderly.

"Because if in the car alone, their gambling players pretend to sit down, after the car leaves, they return to continue again," he said.
