Merdeka Campus Helps Students Choose the Type of Job After Graduation

Academics in the central mountains of Papua who are also the Chairperson of STIMIK Agamua Wamena Marthen Medlama rate, the Minister of Education and Culture's policy Nadiem Makarim regarding independent campuses is very suitable to be applied in Papua and West Papua, the policy is needed by Indonesian students, especially in Papua.

"We are Indonesians in general, but what I am talking about is specifically Papuans, low reading interest, so if the applicative education comes down to see, practice, that's what Papuans want," he said.

The policy will provide a new atmosphere for students who feel pressured due to being on campus with the same learning patterns continuously for several semesters. Kampus Merdeka helps students choose the type of work to be done after graduation, because they have learned to face problems and find solutions when two semesters are off campus.

"So after we get in touch with theories related to the department, for example two or four semesters, well the next two semesters we release to the community to find work, discuss matters related to the department, so he found a problem if for example I finished later, work "I what, the problems I face like this," he explained.

The independent campus is planned to be conducted in semester V, meaning that the last two semesters are used by students to descend or study in the community. But he admitted that the two-semester policy for practice was rather difficult to implement in some areas that had limited employment.

He hoped that the minister's extraordinary program would not only be limited to discourse but would be followed up at an applicative level in the academic world so that all Indonesian universities could do that. As an academic in the central mountains of Papua, he gave an appreciation related to this program.
