MANOKWARI - Since the corona virus spread from Wuhan, China to a number of countries, the West Papua Provincial Health Office together with the Port Health Office has observed 11 foreigners from China. All Chinese citizens observed were negative.
Most Chinese citizens undergoing observation or quarantine in the area are those who work as TKA at the PT SDIC Papua Cement Indonesia cement factory in Manokwari. The statement was conveyed by the Head of West Papua Province Health Office Otto Parorongan.
The number of Chinese foreign workers undergoing examination and observation in Manokwari is 10 people. While one other case was in Sorong. He is a Chinese tourist who travels to Raja Ampat.
"Observations were made at the Selebes Solu Hospital for several days. After being declared negative the Covid-19 concerned was immediately sent back to his country," Otto said.
In the Sorong case, the expert staff of the Minister of Health briefly met with the foreign national before being repatriated. Besides WN China, continued Otto, his party also conducted an examination of eight Sorong students who returned from Wuhan. From that examination they were all declared negative.
"Before returning to West Papua, they first underwent observation in Natuna for 14 days. They were negative Covid-19 and in good health as evidenced by a health certificate from the Ministry of Health," Otto said.
To date, there have not been any positive confirmed patients of Covid-19 in West Papua. As a preventative measure, the Health Office has carried out a number of activities. Intensive prevention campaigns are carried out in schools and other places.
The Covid-19 standby task force has also been formed led directly by the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency. All agencies are involved in the Task Force.
