BKKBN Discusses Proud Kencana Program with Papuan Leaders |
Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo held a dialogue with Papuan leaders, to find out the Proud Kencana Program (Family Population and Family Planning Development).
.
The activity that took place in one of the hotels in Jayapura City on Thursday (03/12/2020) was attended by Papuan leaders from academia, politics, women, traditional and youth groups as well as millennials.
.
Chairman of the Jayapura City DPRD, Abisai Rollo, said the BKKBN program in the future is how Papuans can give birth to children or generations of gold that are smart and quality, to build the Earth of Cenderawasih and Indonesia.
.
"Basically we support what the BKKBN wants, so in the discussion there were a number of things that we conveyed with the BKKBN program going forward," Rollo said.
.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Papua Province National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), Charles Brabar, said that at present his party wants to change the image of the family planning (KB) program to become a healthy and prosperous family so that it is increasingly understood and accepted by the community.
.
"Family planning must now be transparent for the community, because our hope is how to create a healthy, quality family and a golden generation of character for the land of Papua in the future," he said.
.
It was said, at the meeting the traditional leaders and women wanted how the government did not limit two children enough, but fully left it to the family. The task of BKKBN is only to ensure how to control and socialize how to build healthy, smart and quality families.
.
"What is input from the figures will be used as an evaluation material for the BKKBN, hoping to do the best in accordance with local Papuan wisdom. We in principle do not forbid everyone to have many children, but we have a duty to ensure how to make the mother and child grow up healthy, smart and quality, "he said.
.
He admitted, some people still consider family planning with the image of "contraception" which is only an effort to limit the amount so that it is contrary to local wisdom in an area.
.
In fact, the true essence, said Charles, is not about "contraception" but rather an effort to improve the quality of the family and maintain the health of mothers and children, "one of which is by maintaining the distance of birth between one child and another child," he said.
.
The same thing was conveyed by the Head of BKKBN RI, Hasto Wardoyo that the BKKBN program is now packaged in new terms. Becoming Family Development, Population and Family Planning or abbreviated to Proud of Kencana.
.
"The point is the same but only the terms are different to make it easier to understand and close to the ears of the people, especially among millennials and zilennials," Hasto concluded.
