Alert Corona, Papua Closes Flight and Shipping Access |
The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua officially closed access to aviation and shipping lines to Bumi Cendrawasih following the corona virus emergency alert status in the region since March 17.
Papua Governor Lukas Enembe said, from March 26 to April 9, 2020, access of people or passengers either by sea or air would be temporarily closed, in order to prevent the spread of the corona virus in Papua.
"However, transportation of goods and food will still be opened," Governor Enembe said after chairing the Forkopimda meeting on COVID-19 in Jayapura, Antara quoted him as saying on Tuesday (3/24).
He said the closure was carried out for the next 14 days and would be extended if there were an increase in cases.
There is no lockdown term, Enembe said, but only social restrictions. He emphasized that it also applies to PT. Pelni, who will not be allowed down.
"Only goods are allowed to get off at airports and ports in Papua," he said.
The Papua Provincial Government through the results of the meeting's decision also asked the community to remain at home so that the spread of Covid-19 could be suppressed. He hopes residents can take the initiative to quarantine themselves or limit movement outside the home.
