Vice President Values Papua Steps Close Access Not in the Definition of Lockdown

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin considered that the steps taken by the Papua Provincial Government by closing down access to and leaving the area were not in the sense of a lockdown.

"I think it might be a temporary policy, not in the sense of lockdown, but to limit, prevent the entry of people suspected or feared would transmit the corona virus," Ma'ruf Amin said during an interview via video conference with reporters on Thursday (26) / 3/2020).

He said the policy was carried out only so that the number of Covid-19 patients in Papua would not increase.

In addition, the step was taken so that patients who are positive can focus on being handled.

"To keep the people there from increasing, because they will certainly focus on handling so as to prevent the occurrence in Papua itself," said Ma'ruf Amin.
