Timika - In addition to seizing, armed criminal groups (KKB) burned churches in Mimika, Papua. After setting fire to the church, the KKB uploaded photos to social media.
Mimika Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner I Gusti Gde Era Adhinata said the church that was burned was the Indonesian Gospel Camp Church, Klasis Mimika, Sinai Congregation, in the Opitawak region, Tembagapura. As a result of the investigation, the perpetrators of the church burning were the KKB perpetrators whose initials were EB.
"The perpetrators of the Church burning in Opitawak were led by EB. We know from the photos that they uploaded themselves to social media," said AKBP Era.
The burning of the church in Opitawak was carried out by the KKB when they fled from the pursuit of the TNI-Polri apparatus. The pursuit was carried out by the TNI-Polri apparatus after thousands of residents from four villages in Tembagapura took refuge.
After residents fled to Timika, the TNI-Polri carried out law enforcement by pursuing the KKB. Since then firefighting contact continued until the KKB group retreated to the Opitawak area and burned down the church on Friday (12/3).
Four KKB members were killed in the crossfire on Saturday-Sunday (14-15 / 3). From this contact, the TNI-Polri secured three long-barreled weapons and several traditional war instruments.
The burning event of the KKB was also carried out in 2017. At that time TNI-Polri troops repulsed the KKB which took thousands of citizens hostage. KKB burned down hospitals, schools and people's homes.
