OPM Burns the House of God
OPM Burns the House of God |
What a savage human! The Free Papua Organization (OPM) dares to burn the house of God. The Indonesian Gospel Tent Church, Mimika Klasis, Sinai Congregation, which is in the Opitawak Region, Tembagapura District, Mimika, Papua, has been burned by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of the Free Papua Organization (OPM).
The arson action was carried out by the Telenggen Lekagak Group and Joni Botak. The allegation was corroborated by a photo that showed a church building that left a burning roof frame with someone wearing a red-blue motif noken necklace.
Temabagapura police chief, AKP Hermanto said, the Lekagak group and other OPMs had converted the place of worship into a post to hide from the pursuit of the TNI / Polri.
"The church was previously crowded with people in Opitawak village in holding various religious activities, but it has been several weeks since the KKB (OPM) spread terror in the area, the community finally had to yield," said the police chief.
The OPM act was allegedly because they did not have a place to stay, so they threatened the surrounding community to be able to make the church their base.
That is what underlies the community in Tembagapura District, including the Opitawak village, securing themselves from various oppressions by OPM.
Head of Papua Police Public Relations KBP AM Kamal stressed, currently the TNI / Polri in Tembagapura District continue to pursue in an effort to enforce the law against KKB groups that have been troubling the community.
Previously on March 15, 2020, 4 OPM members were killed after a shootout with the TNI / Polri. From the results of the incident, 3 firearms of AK 47, AR 15 and Thompson were secured.
"Our members will continue to enforce the law against members of the Armed Criminal Group who are troubling citizens. After this incident the current security situation in the Tembagapura District is safe and conducive," he said.
He explained that the arson action was not the first time that the OPM group had done it. It was earlier on 6 February 2020 that the OPM group also burned heavy equipment and houses belonging to priests in Titiga and Dugusiga, Intan Jaya Regency.
