West Papua Ready to Manage Natural Resources Wisely

Although the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia is increasingly worrying, PPSDM Geominerba continues to provide services in the field of Human Resource Development. The reality is the collaboration between PPSDM Geominerba and the ESDM Office of West Papua Province.

This cooperation is in the form of organizing Mining Supervision Training for Small-Scale Mining Workers in the area of ​​West Papua Province. The Expert Staff of the Governor of West Papua Province, Nicolas Uttung Tike, accompanied by one of the Geominerba PPSDM lecturers, Mirna Mariana, officially opened the training program on Monday at Swiss-Belhotel Sorong.

"The policy of the Province of West Papua is a province of sustainable development, so the management of the mining sector as one of the non-renewable natural resources must be done wisely and continuously," Nicolas said in a written statement, Tuesday (03/17/2020).

"So it does not damage the environment and has added value, not only for the country but also for the communities around the mine."

Nicolas further explained, the need for coaching and increasing the capacity of human resources for mining workers in the province of West Papua.

As many as 20 people attended the training which will last for nine days (March 16-24). They are expected to become professional mining workers in the small-scale mining industry.

In addition, participants are also expected to have the ability to apply mining activities properly and be able to apply the principles of mining safety and environmental protection.
