The Papua Regional Police promotes cyber patrols in cyberspace in exposing the rampant spread of hoax or hoax news, as well as expressions of hatred in the easternmost regions of Indonesia.
Head of Papua Police Public Relations, Police Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, Wednesday (4/3) said, cyber patrol is not only done by the Cyber Police Directorate of Special Criminal Subdit, but can also be done by the Ministry of Communication and Information.
Cyber patrol, continued Kamal, was carried out as a form of prevention or mitigation of accounts that spread hoaks, hate speech, provocative, and SARA (Ethnic, Religion, Race and Intergroup content).
In the initial stages, the National Police and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology conducted socialization and education to the public so as not to spread hoaks and hate speech. The next stage is law enforcement if there is a violation.
"When mitigation efforts are taken, the maximum prevention has been made, and the monitored accounts continue to make bursts, news, or hoax content, then law enforcement is carried out," Kamal said.
In law enforcement, investigators will explore evidence that is allegedly used by perpetrators. Most actors spread hoax news using social media, both Facebook, Twitter and other social media
"From social media, the track record of the perpetrators will be explored by investigators through the Digital Forensic Laboratory. You spread the contents of the hoaks using what tools? mobile phones, for example, computers and others, will be dug up, "said the former Depok Deputy Police Chief.
The Papua Regional Police have also prepared a Law on Information, Technology and Electronics (ITE) to ensnare perpetrators of law enforcement and hate speech on social media. "Anyone who is proven to spread hoaxes and expressions of hatred can be charged with criminal offenses," concluded Kamal.
