25 Regencies in Papua Still Free COVID-19

The Papua COVID-19 Task Force said that up to now 25 of the 29 regencies / cities in Papua are still COVID-19 free. Whereas 4 other districts namely Jayapura, Mimika and Merauke and Jayapura City already have positive COVID-19 patients or enter the COVID-19 corona red zone.

Papua COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson, doctor Silwanus Sumule said that being free of COVID-19 meant that the 25 districts had no positive COVID-19 patients.

"Even so in 25 districts in Papua there are already people in monitoring (ODP) or patients under surveillance (PDP)," said Sumule, Tuesday (04/07/2020).

Whereas 4 regencies which were full attention namely in Jayapura City, there were 13 positive cases of COVID-19. A total of 8 patients were treated, 3 cases were cured and 2 cases died. Then in Jayapura District there were 5 positive cases of COVID-19 and all were still being treated.

Then in Mimika Regency there were 9 positive cases, 7 patients were treated, and 2 patients died. Whereas in Merauke District there were 4 positive cases of COVID-19 with 2 patients treated and 2 cases cured.

Until now, the number of COVID-19 positive patients in Papua has continued to increase to 31, from 26 previously. This number increased by 5 people scattered in Jayapura Regency adding 3 positive people of COVID-19, then in Mimika one person and in the city of Jayapura increased 1 person positive of COVID-19.

"On average, patients treated in moderate illness and there are 3 patients experiencing severe pain, so using respiratory aids," said Silwanus.

The Papua COVID-19 Task Force also reported that 4 patients had died, namely 2 people in Jayapura City and 2 people in Timika. All 4 patients tested positive for COVID-19 from the PCR swab.

Meanwhile, good news is still happening in Papua amid the corona pandemic COVID-19 with the number of ODP continues to decline every day. Today the number of ODP is reduced in Papua reaching 236 people, bringing the total ODP remaining to 3,262 people.
