Following up on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo about all people staying at home, in order to break the chain of the spread of corona virus disease (COVID-19), the Government of West Papua Province distributed food packages to residents of Manokwari Regency who were affected by COVID-19 through religious institutions namely mosque and church.
Grocery packages delivered by the Governor of West Papua who is also the general chair of the COVID-19 local area virus control task force, Drs Dominggus Mandacan as many as 2,756 packages.
In the delivery of basic food items given to those who are entitled to receive at seven points namely, GPKAI Kuriakon Wosi Church, GKI Sion Sanggeng, GKI Otto Geisler Biriosi, GKI Bartolomeus Borasi, Al Hijrah Borobudur Mosque, GKI Pniel Anggori and Fanindi Raya Governor of West Papua Governor accompanied by all Province COVID-19 task force members.
From the data collected, as many as 2,756 packages distributed will be distributed to 6 points, namely GPKAI Kuriakon Wosi, GKI Sion Sanggeng, GKI Otto Geisler Biriosi, GKI Bartolomeus Borasi, Al Hijrah Borobudur Mosque, GKI Pniel Anggori distributed 326 packages each point.
While 800 food packages were given to Manokwari residents who were affected by COVID-19 domiciled in Fanindi Raya, besides that the West Papua Provincial Government also distributed 13,780 pieces of masks together with the package.
The Governor of West Papua, Drs Dominggus Mandacan, told reporters that the distribution of nine-basic necessities through religious institutions was more effective and on target, he was optimistic that the rightful people could get it.
"2,756 food packages that the West Papua provincial government distributed today, later in the future we will prepare them again, first to the people who are entitled to receive but have not yet received them," said Governor Dominggus Mandacan in Manokwari, Wednesday (15/4).
Furthermore Mandacan said, his party would coordinate with political parties or organizations that have a concern to share with the community so that it can be given to those who have not received it.
"This means that in order not to overlap, there is equity and is right on target to those who have the right to receive it, basically we maximize it so there is justice," he said.
