40 Thousand Masks for Papuans

As many as 40 thousand masks were prepared by the Asmat District Office in Papua, as an effort to prevent the spread of the new corona virus or Covid-19. The mask is intended for Orang Asli Papua (OAP) in 224 villages spread across 24 districts.

"The 40,000 masks that were launched were dedicated to the indigenous Papuan community in Asmat. This is in the context of preventing Covid-19 in Asmat, "said the Head of the Asmat Social Service, Amir Makhmud, Saturday (19/4).

The masks were distributed in stages, and in collaboration with 17 Puskesmas located in the local district area, in order to speed up distribution.

"It is targeted that all citizens especially OAPs must get it," he said.

According to the plan, the distribution of masks to the villages will be carried out in the next few days. But Amir said, for the village in the Agats District it had been carried out since Friday (17/4) yesterday, and it was scheduled to be finished on Sunday (19/4).

"The distribution of masks in Agats is driven by the Disaster Preparedness Team (Tagana), seconded also by the Alumni of the Institute of Domestic Education (IPDN) in the city of Agats," he said.

According to Amir, his party was also entrusted by the Covid-19 Task Force Team to oversee logistics in preventing Covid-19, so that it will work as much as possible to break the corona virus chain.

"We also socialize how to wear a good mask, urge residents to reduce their activities outside the home, and invite people to have a healthy lifestyle," Amir said.
