Circulated a video showing one Jayapura police member while appealing to the public to comply with social restrictions to prevent the corona virus from spreading further.
However, in the appeal, the police threatened to hit the residents' spine with rattan, if anyone was still roaming in public places after 14.00 CET.
Confirmed this, Jayapura Police Chief, AKBP Victor Makbon ensured that the members in the video made a mistake. "We are firmly measurable, if related to the members, they say the wrong thing. If you say firmly, we from yesterday have firmly also appealed to us," said Victor, Sunday (4/19/2020).
Victor made sure his members did not intend to frighten the public. However, the police wanted to ensure that citizens obey the appeal issued. Moreover, the number of positive cases of corona virus in Jayapura continues to increase. Victor has also reprimanded the police to be wiser in conveying something to the public.
'' He made a mistake, was too enthusiastic and we have already evaluated the member. "We are reprimanding, we remind it so that it does not happen again because there are boundaries that we have made, what must be conveyed to the community to be obedient," he said.
Victor also appealed to the public to truly comply with the rules of social distancing and physical distancing issued by the government.
