Medical device assistance to support the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic landed at Sentani Airport, Jayapura Regency, Papua, on Friday (10/4/2020). A total of 3.4 tons of medical equipment will be handed over to the Papua Covid-19 Task Force, and the remaining 1.2 tons will be sent to West Papua.
Commander of the Indonesian Air Force Air Base Silas Papare in Sentani, Marsma TNI Tris Bowo Budi Santoso said the assistance of medical devices was in the form of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and masks for health workers who treated Patients in Oversight (PDP) and Covid-19 patients.
Assistance from the central government was reinforced by Indonesian Air Force aircraft. According to him, the aid was departed from Jakarta on Friday morning. "The plane from Jakarta at 04.00 WIB, went straight to Jayapura," said Tris.
The medical device assistance for the Papua Covid-19 Task Force consisted of 10 thousand PPE pieces, 5 thousand masks. "The medical device assistance was coordinated by the Central Covid-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling. The [delivery] mechanism is conveyed to the TNI Commander, then prepares the departure schedule, "he said.
He stated 1.2 tons of other aid would be sent to Manokwari, West Papua. "This is in accordance with the commitment of the Air Force Chief of Staff that we are ready to support the handling of Covid-19. This is what the community needs to know, the TNI is not just sleeping, but the spirit is helping, "said Tris.
He stated that he had already informed the local government in Papua that the Air Force could help transport medical equipment from outside Papua. Local governments that need transportation assistance can notify and coordinate with the TNI.
