Aquaculture Assistance Prevents Food Scarcity

The Jayapura City Government through the Fisheries Service ensures assistance and guidance to fisheries aquaculture entrepreneurs continue to run amid the Corona virus pandemic.

"Until now we are still working as we should, even though we are working from home or working from home," said the Head of Jayapura City Fisheries Service, Matheys Sibi, Monday (05/18/2020).

According to Sibi, coaching in the field of fisheries is based on policies set by the Central Government so that community activities that are engaged in fish breeding business continue to run in economic fulfillment.

A total of 300 fishery aquaculture entrepreneurs in Jayapura City are engaged in cages (step and floating), fishponds, and freshwater culture (ground pools and tarpaulin pools).

So that counseling and facilitation activities run smoothly, said Sibi, fisheries counselors are involved to assist empowerment so that fish yields are abundant and of economic value.

"The aquaculture business performer must continue to work and generate income to meet food and other needs. The 2020 fishery target is 12,745 tons, "said Sibi.

The Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano, said that the government continues to pay attention to both assistance and assistance so that it becomes an entrepreneur as an effort to improve the economy in the family.

"Produce with good quality according to market needs so as to have regular customers and implement good money management. I hope to continue to abide by the government's call in the middle of the corona virus pandemic, "Mano said.

Tomi Mano hopes that every Regional Apparatus Organization in the Jayapura City Government will continue to provide assistance continuously until it is independent.
