Biak Regional Police Distributes 3500 Corn Seeds to Assisted Farmer Groups

To maintain food security in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Biak Numfor Regional Police distributed 3500 seedlings and planted corn seeds which were divided into 2 Polsek namely West Biak Police and North Biak Police, Friday (05/05/2020).

For the West Biak police station, precisely in Yomdori village, the handing over of seedlings was symbolically represented by Biak Numfor District Police Chief, by Kabag Ren Kompol Stella Suruan to a farmer group owned by Yunus Kaisepo under the guidance of West Biak Police Station and continued by visiting goats owned by West Biak Police Chief Aiptu Wahyudi .

While in North Biak Polsek, precisely in Kobe Oser Village, the transfer of seeds was represented by the Head of North Sumatra Ops Police Commissioner Irfan Rumasoren to the North Biak Polsek farmer groups.

Biak Numfor Police Chief AKBP Mada Indra Laksanta, SIK. M.Si explained that this activity was carried out as a step to support the food security program especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"What is certain is the distribution of 3,500 corn seeds to the farmers group under the guidance of the West Biak Police and the North Biak Police Sector, as an anticipatory measure to maintain food security in the co-19 pandemic," he said.

According to the Head of the Police Resort with the distribution of corn seeds, local residents can use vacant land at home for gardening and the results can be beneficial for local residents, can be consumed alone or can be sold to increase the economy of local residents.

"Hopefully this corn seed aid provided can be utilized by local residents, can help food security or can increase the economy of residents," he said.
