The Logistics Agency (Bulog) of the Timika Branch Office, Papua, has served 1,100 tons of rice requests from the Mimika Regency Government to be distributed to local residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Timika Bulog Branch Manager Ariek Estyanto Indra Wibowo in Timika said, during the COVID-19 pandemic the demand for rice to the local Bulog increased especially from the Mimika Regency Government to help residents who had difficulty getting basic necessities.
"The total that we have distributed to the Mimika Regency Government is 1,100 tons. They have bought it through our partners, namely Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK) for Rp8,900 per kilogram," explained Ariek.
According to him, the distribution of rice purchased by Mimika Regency Government was carried out in stages. The Timika Bulog must request escort by the police to facilitate the transportation of rice from the Port of Pomako to the Timog Bulog Warehouse because there are technical obstacles outside Bulog's responsibility.
In addition to distributing rice purchased by Mimika Regency Government, Timogog has also been serving requests from the Mimika Regency Government and Puncak Regency Government to utilize 100 tons of Government Rice Reserve each during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"CBP with an allocation of 100 tons for each regency / city has been utilized by Mimika Regency Government and Puncak Regency Government. We have distributed it. For transportation to Ilaga, the capital city of Puncak Regency, the local government that takes care of everything," explained Ariek.
The head of the Mimika Regency Food Security Service, Syahrial recently said that his staff asked the Timika Bulog to provide more than 1,000 tons of rice to help the people affected by the economic crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Syahrial said that rice distributed to 16 districts (sub-districts) reached around 350 tons. While for villages (villages) in the Mimika Baru and Wania Districts, 50 tons are allocated, and kelurahan in the two districts are allocated around 750 tons.
Besides rice, the food aid package distributed by the Mimika Regency Government also includes cooking oil, instant noodles, granulated sugar, coffee, eggs and others.
