Intan Jaya Papua is ready to implement New Normal

The Government of Intan Jaya Regency in Papua has expressed its readiness to implement New Normal during the Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation of New Normal was carried out after Intan Jaya made sure it did not find positive cases of corona in its area. This was said by the Regent of Intan Jaya, Natalis Tabuni in Jayapura, Friday (6/5/2020).

"Thank God, in Intan Jaya there were no Covid-19 cases. Initially there was a Person in Supervision, but he was already free after undergoing an independent quarantine and handling from health workers, "Tabuni said.

According to him, the implementation of New Normal at Intan Jaya had begun on Friday, by opening a number of public facilities and offices.

"If it is not opened, we might have an economic crisis. However, we always urge people to continue implementing health protocols to always use masks in public places, and to keep their distance from each other, "he said.

Regarding the flight access to Intan Jaya, Tabuni said that his party had followed the rules of the Provincial Government of Papua to open flights from and to Intan Jaya on June 10, 2020. Schools in Intan Jaya also began to carry out teaching and learning activities in class.

"We have opened education facilities. We are currently recording the teaching staff, because we are afraid the teachers are not in place due to the closure of transportation access since two months ago, "he said.

Previously, Papua's Deputy Governor Klemen Tinal invited districts included in the Covid-19 pandemic green zone to implement New Normal.

"Please do the activities as usual, but I ask the regional head to continue to monitor and maintain the community to implement the recommended health protocol," said Tinal.

The central government has detailed health protocols that must be applied in the implementation of New Normal. The health protocol is contained in the Minister of Health's Circular Letter Number HK 02-01 / Menkes / 335/2020 concerning Protocol on Prevention of Corona Virus Disease Transmission (Covid-19) in the Workplace Services and Trade Sector (Public Areas) in Supporting Business Sustainability.
